Small Chairs

The small chair is a seat with a short seat and back for adult use. It is relatively roughly made and so wears out quickly, meaning that few examples are found. It is used mainly by aged men and women who sit by the fireplace in winter to cook or to warm themselves. Exceptionally, carpenters may make children’s chairs.
