The instrument maker Kostas Kontaxakis has made this particular lute cap, using the “guitar armature”.
As he describes it, instead of the vertical bows placed on the inside face of the lute lid, he has placed only two vertical bows, in the traditional way, and several other bows diagonally, modeled after the guitar bows.
This particular construction, according to the instrument maker, is suitable for shaping lutes intended for accompaniment and not for soloing.
